Brian Flemming on the radio this morning–download
Download the file here. There is a short follow-up interview with Brian Sapient of the Rational Response Squad also on that audio file. Brian and Brian discuss KVI host Kirby Wilbur’s confession that he cancelled the Friday appearance because he didn’t want to put Brian Flemming on his show on Good Friday, not because of “breaking news” that suddenly evaporated. (That was the previous story.)
The show this morning was surprisingly non-combative, and Kirby Wilbur did not allow any call-ins. He seemed to want to get it over with ASAP.
Brian Flemming on the radio tomorrow morning
Tomorrow morning, Brian will be on the radio (unless Kirby Wilbur chickens out again).
Monday, April 17, 7 AM PT. KVI 570, Fox News Radio Seattle. “Kirby Wilbur Show”. Call in: 888-312-5757. Listen live at this stream.
KVI update
KVI (Seattle, 570 AM) assures us that the mysteriously re-scheduled interview with Brian Flemming is definitely on for Monday at 7 AM, “set in stone.”
Their story: They had heard there was going to be breaking news at 8 AM, but then at 8 AM they decided that the still-unidentified breaking news was not so “hot” after all. And that’s why they had a Christians-only discussion of Easter for an hour instead of talking to Brian.
Still, this doesn’t quite explain why they didn’t put Brian on during that hour. He contacted them three times during that hour to let them know he was available right away (they received at least two of those contacts during the hour).
Hmm… So confusing.
A mystery: Why was KVI interview cancelled by KVI?
Brian Flemming was supposed to be on the air with Kirby Wilbur at 8 AM PT today. But Fox News Radio’s KVI cancelled the interview early this morning. Because, according to their email, “we had some breaking news to attend to this morning at 8:00.”
If you were listening, you heard that “breaking news”: Let’s talk about Easter! It was just people calling in to talk about their favorite Easter stories, from an exclusively Christian-believer perspective. When he heard that, Brian assumed the “breaking news” had mysteriously evaporated, and he called and emailed the producer to let him know he was available to talk. No response from KVI.
We’re as confused as you. Did Kirby Wilbur get cold feet? What was the real reason for the cancellation? We really don’t know…
KVI has re-scheduled the interview for Monday at 7 AM PT, but it’s hard to tell if that will happen, given the facts so far.
“Breaking news” = Let’s talk about Easter!
UPDATE 8:35 AM: This is hilarious. Kirby Wilbur actually just said, “We don’t really have a topic for this hour. We don’t usually do this. But just call in…anything you want to talk about, let’s talk about it.”
Um, Kirby? You had a topic. You were going to talk to Brian Flemming about the War On Easter. Why did you cancel the interview?
On the radio
Tomorrow, Brian Flemming will be making his fourth appearance this week on a Fox News Radio Network show:
Friday, April 14, 8 AM PT. KVI 570, Fox News Radio Seattle. “Kirby Wilbur Show”. Call in: 888-312-5757. Listen live at this stream.
What do you know about Kirby Wilbur? What is his interruption technique? Give us the scoop…
Also, Brian Sapient & Rook Hawkins of the Rational Response Squad recorded a special 20-minute show about the War on Easter. They also discuss the topic: Is Atheism a Belief? Download the free MP3 here.
Conservative talk radio
While the Beyond Belief Media volunteers are of course mostly atheists, the War on Easter campaign isn’t about preaching to the converted. It’s about converting the preached-to. We may be atheists, but our intended audience is Christians.
So Brian Flemming has been mostly going on conservative talk radio shows with the War on Easter message (the Rational Response Squad being one exception). At his blog today, Brian offers some thoughts about winning on conservative talk radio.
Day 2: Mid-day roundup
More battle reports are coming. Meanwhile, here’s a roundup of war-related stuff:
What people are saying today about the War on Easter:
–Free Republic. “It’ll be really amusing to see this creep try and explain his actions and statements when standing before God to be judged. What do you think he’ll say, before being inevitably chucked into everlasting fire?”
–Michigan Talk Radio Network. Brian Flemming had an interview today with Ron Pritchard. The interview will air on Saturday at MLIVE.com (first at 6 AM, then several times throughout the day), but Ron gave us permission to post the audio here. Download MP3: Part 1, Part 2. If you’re awake when it airs live, you can call in to 888-900-9966.
–You can always see what the blogs are saying by checking this Technorati link. So far we’re up to 41 links.
