After hearing about the war on Easter from the Rational Responders I decided to try my hand at helping. After 3 failed daytime attempts to plant some flyers (failed because the second I walked in the church I was swarmed with people trying to get me to come to the church on a regular basis) I went on a nighttime mission. Though I was not able to get into the church I was able to put some flyers up and around the church.
RIVERSIDE, CA: Egg-laying missions
Agent Justin Operable plants some “plastic delusion destroyers”:
I began my mission Saturday Night, and the objective was simple. I had gathered 20 or so plastic Easter Eggs and folded child-seeking fliers within them. My target, the First Congregational Church: United Church of Christ in Downtown Riverside, California. Once prepared I walked around the building with another operative, casing the place before I made my move. When I felt the time was right I began to place the plastic Egg/Bomb Shells in strategic locations where I thought children might find them and be devastated by truth in their quest for candy. Little did I know that Church was at that very moment in session. Many people began exiting the building and I was forced to make several passes planting far fewer eggs per minute than was strategically optimal. But patience won out in the end, and by the time 20 minutes had passed I had placed all 20 of the plastic delusion destroyers in locations sure to be found by any children being dragged into church on Sunday morning. I have pictures here of my preparation of the missions weaponry, I have also my first placement just outside of the parking lot as can be seen by the Church Parking sign, and a few pictures of signs outside of the Church verifying the location.
DALLAS: Many missions with pub break in middle

Churches include: Skillman Church of Christ, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Zion Lutheran Church, Wilshire Baptist Church, First United Lutheran Church, and MacArthur Baptist Church, including others which escape my memory now.
All churches were closed, as the operation commenced around 7PM Saturday night and ended around 9:30, stopping for a few drinks at the Old Monk Pub. Each church received a flyer posted on a door as well as one DVD hidden in the shrubbery, or behind a cross display, or behind some element of the landscaping.
PENNSYLVANIA: Successful missions

Hi, my name is Mark. I’m from Taylor, PA. The pictures are all from churches within a 5 minute walk of my home. I still have some flyers left over and thought I might hand them out to people at services tomorrow.
I touch base with RRS now and again through MySpace. I saw the link for the War On Easter and I couldn’t help but extend my Atheist arms out to embrace this opportunity once I read about the ‘campaign’.
I did this the day before Easter. It’s a later start, I know, but I hadn’t ‘discovered’ the link until Friday night. Because of my late start I wasn’t able to leave flyers within the buildings however I was able to slip them under doors, hand them directly to the pastor, or at least leave them on the doors of their buildings. Not posted on the doors… Well, you’ll soon see from my pictures.
I had help from my brother (he snapped the photos) and you can see his reflection in one of the church signs.
SANTA CRUZ: Successful missions

Just went to four churches in Santa Cruz/Capitola/Soquel. Only planted flyers at two because others were closed/locked. Seventh Day Adventist see pics. There was some sort of service going on which left me lots of time to fill the lobby with flyers. Put one in each bible and also on the (dis)information wall. It was awesome. Second church was a Catholic church that was locked. I put some flyers around the courtyard where I thought people will be tomorrow taking pictures and easter egg hunts. Sorry the pics aren’t so great. This was awesome.
VERMONT: Successful mission

Saturday afternoon, the day before Easter. All the churches in town were locked and dark, so I went to the Good Shepherd catholic school in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont. Taped up a large “Scary Stories” poster before getting out of the car, and pasted it on a front window, next to the door, facing in so kids will see it while looking out the window waiting for their bus. It’s not too noticeable from the outside, so perhaps school staff won’t see it right away. In the picture it just looks plain white, below the Virgin Mary statue.
SHREVEPORT: Successful mission

Dear Fellow Warriors,
We brought the war to Shreveport, LA today by planting the DVD at the Summer Grove Baptist Church. Today they were holding a Easter Egg Hunt for the kids indoors. They were going to have the kids come in an watch some Jesus propraganda before they could engage in what they were really there for - the candy! There was an Easter Bunny beside the big screen TV that I planted the DVD under. I suspected that one of the children while watching the movie would want the bunny and accidently find the DVD. I put a special message on the back of the DVD “You found the prize! We love you and wanted you to know the truth about Jesus.”
After planting the DVD we put up the posters in the room where the children would be having the hunt as well as on the outside doors to the room.

ALABAMA: Successful missions

My son and I distributed 50 flyers around 7 Dothan, AL area churches. They were all locked, so we hid the flyers in bushes near the entrance to the buildings, especially the classroom buildings.
PHILADELPHIA: Rational Response Squad strikes again with major operation
The Rational Response Squad’s missions in Philly should really have “Operation” status they’re so big. Just a quote from today’s actions:
Two teenagers kept coming out of the Church. Why? I don’t know. Maybe they were trying to cut, because Mass was in session. The kid on the right was wearing a “HIM” shirt. Aren’t they satanic? I have a feeling these two kids are gonna love their new gift! I bet they’re sick of their parents forcing their fairy tale on them.
SANTA MONICA: The governor of California gets a flyer on Easter morning
Wow. No picture, but this is a great story from Santa Monica, where California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Maria Shriver dwell:
I just came from Saint Monica’s. I slipped in there to hide flyers and who walks past me but Arnold and Maria with their kids.
I went up to Arnold who was standing in the corner of the entranceway after that and slipped one of your flyers into his hand. He opened it and read it as I ran away. (He looks super tan like he has make-up on. Weird.)
Last night I handed out flyers to the people that were listening to the Christian speakers on the Promenade.
Today I went to St. Paul’s Lutheran and put a number of flyers in the benches (pews?) with the prayer books before a service. I am going to try to get more into Saint Monica’s between services. But it is hard. I had no idea it would be so packed. There are long lines of people waiting to get in.
I have extra flyers so I will hand out more on the Promenade today.
